Well I just upped the multi to 18 and left everything auto.

The vcore wasn't auto changed by the bios to get 3.6Ghz.

I rebooted and upped the multi to 19 its sitting at 3.8Ghz @1.47v. I will see if I can step those volts back a little as the board auto upped them. Idle temps 37 degrees and all fans on low.

I am going to push a little further and leave the vcore on auto. If and when I hit ~4Ghz, I will see if I can't back off the vcore while keeping stability.

Then I will OC the Ram.

well SH*T ! That was way too easy.

Sitting now at an even 4Ghz. Auto vcore and cpu-z is telling me its 1.48v.

Idle temps are the same, didnt find out what loads are yet but not overly worried at this point yet.

Also had similar results and hit 3.98 stable, still don't know why my vcore is so low, i'm kinda worried about it...

a low vcore is not a bad thing !! I wish mine was lower.

I was playing with the multi for a 4.2 Ghz clock but it didnt wanna boot. I had manually set the volts to 1.53. I know I can get this into windows @ 4.2 but not that crazy about pushing the vcore much higher.

I am very satisfied with a 4Ghz oc thats stable.

Nice thing is, I can take some time and set up the Turbo function using the pwr button.

I can do the mild oc to 3.6 for low, 3.8 for med and 4Ghz for high. Its a wicked little feature on this board and all I gotta do is set it up. prolly tomorrow.

Yeah but do you really think it should be that low?

Like maybe it's not reporting right or I got a good configuration here... Keep in mind all this was a simple multi change. I didn't touch the core or anything else. That's why I love my BE's...

Oh and I got that feature on mine as well but was a bit wary of it as far as usability.

I didnt do much tinkering with the oc at ALL. I only upped the multi so I would call it a rough OC at best. There was no fine tuning here. All things considered I would call that respectable for the results.

I am going to put some time in on this later - for the moment I got other things I gotta do.

If I set the voltage manually the numbers would never match up to what I had set in the BIOS. I'm sure if I set the Memory to 2.1V I could "maybe" get to 3.6GHz. Ah the joys of an unlocked multiplier, next upgrade will be next winter, and a 6-core CPU.

It's a pain for you to OC steve-o cause of the raid card. Would be a long time working out a stable OC. Even tho yours is locked, you can bump the Bus up and the vcore to do a little better. squeezin 3.4 out of a locked cpu would be alright.

if you do a bench stock then oc'd I bet your gpu would open up quite a bit.

I tinkered for about 5 mins to get a quick and dirty ram oc. Ram is now sitting at 1800Mhz even, up from the 1600 stock. Also with the 1600 stock timings and volts.

This rig has been by far the easiest and most impressive combination I have worked with to date.

after changing the OC a lil here and there when I got time, I managed to get it into windows at 4.16Ghz with the 1800Mhz memory OC But it wasn't stable. I know its doable to make stable and an even 4.2 also possible but I am just not comfortable pushing the volts that far. Not after spending all that money.

So to help I think I am going to go with an H50 here soon. It should be a little better than a V8 for cooling. Unlike Steve-o's Obsidian jesusbox, the 900v2 don't got the back plate to make things easier - DOH!

Or settle with something little less extreme allowing you to push a bit more vcore.

IE: Boreas.

I must say on air with a high ambient, I am very impressed. The 965 runs quite cool so the 45nm process really shines thru here.

I don't got the $$ for a decent water cooling setup and I am also not sure I would want something that has to be maintained - even tho the payoff for cooling would be nothing short of causing a "weeeeeeeee" or "woo-hoooo!" then some mid air dry humps.

I am considering an H50. The difference should be slight enough to get me where I wanna be and its in my $$ range. fingers crossed.

For anyone who wants an easy 4Ghz+, the 965 and the evo board does it with ease.

Agreed. I read so many reviews about the 140w version crapping out at 3.8. In this 125w version I can hit 4.0 with a simple multi increase and it's as stable as I could ask for. Go AMD!
