I'm not sure how many of you on the forum have core i7's at the moment so I wanted to ask everyone who does what chips they have and the overclock that they were able to get out of them. I'm still getting used to overclocking in general since it's been two years since I have. With the Core i7's there is also a new method of overclocking to get used to at that. Anyways I guess I will start with minE: Core i7 920 3.325 GHZ CPU Multi: 19X BCLCK: 175 CPU Voltage: 1.2 Mem Speed: 1050mhz Mem Multi: 6X Timings: 9-9-9-24 Mem Voltage: 1.5 I think that I still have some room to go, I'm hoping to get it up to 3.6GHZ. My main concern is that I'm having trouble getting my memory to run at stock speeds and timings. I have corsair TR3X3G1333C9 and for some reason when I overclock it won't boot with the ram at normal speeds....perhaps I have to change the un-core multiplier or something? I'm not really sure. So right now this is as high as I have gotten. |

Check your ram voltages, but I have found sometimes my ram just wants to run slower than at stock.. but I managed to get it up to what it should be on my system.. I run a Q6600 and got it to 3.5ghz with my ram at 800mhz.. where its rated at. I can't go much higher than 800 when my cpu is that high. But if i clock the CPU down I can put the ram up.. .odd isn't it ? Mind you I heard DDR2 is a lot more flexible with voltages than DDR3.. I'm buying a i5 after christmas and I think there similiar OC properties. I'll let ya know! |

should be able to hit 3.6 on auto everything. It's really hard to diagnose something like this over the internet. It will just involve some toying around. And like said on every post. Overclocks are unfortunately a non-linear thing. |

I got a Xeon W3520(i7 920 D0), but thats all so far. I'll be in your shoes soon. lol There are guides all over the net about overclocking the i7. Check here for some info http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/ |

thats one SICK OC!! what are the temps? you're vcore is also very low - impressive! |

Thanks! I'm happy with the low volts, but it still puts out some heat. At that speed the cpu was at 37 degrees, but the cores ranged from 47-50 degrees. I didnt try priming that OC, but I figure temps would have been around 80 celcius. I got 4.2ghz stable and temps were getting close to 80 celcius on highest core. |

yeah but remember you machine will never be taxed like prime will tax it and most of the time it will be idle anyways. What are you using for a cpu cooler? |

Yes thats true. I'm using the Thermalright Venomous X. |

its pretty amazing you nearly nailed 4.4 on that thing. Way to go! The i7's are nothing short of off the hook. With that oc on those volts - thats alot of processing power. Nicely done. |

Thanks again. It is impressive lol It overclocks well, but I wont get much higher because of me being on aircooling. I have hyperthreading enabled which makes it even nicer, but that is what causes the heat. My ram is 2000mhz cas 9, running at 2090mhz cas 8. It will go higher, as I'm at 1.64v, and it should be at 1.65v for stock voltage. |

yeah , you pay the money and you get the good gear. I'm still amazed on how far you can push the hardware. |
