System clock not keeping time

Post subject:  System clock not keeping time
We have one computer here in our office that does not keep time at all in the system clock. The only problem is that it should be receiving its time from the domain controller. It is an XP Pro SP2 workstation.

Anyone have any ideas as to why the hell this would happen?

Replace the CMOS battery. It could be many issues that is causing this but most times it is the battery. IMO.

i will third that...my office pc did the sam...just got an upgare 1.2ghz cleron with 512mb ram. windows xp...not bad from the win 98 machine i had!...lol

Is it "not keeping good time", or is it "keeping good time, but always XX hours off" ?

My first guess would be the same as everybody else's, but if it keeps resetting itself to a specific time (i.e. always 3 hours off of local, but minutes are correct) then you've got a time zone setting problem.

No, it loses time continuously getting worse. I'm going to see if I can find a battery kicking around the office tomorrow to throw in or maybe I'll just buy a couple.

or try the flux capacitor. im all ways replacing mine :P

5$ eh. i payed 15$ for my last one i had to buy for a p3 server LOL. i guess i didn't shop around first LOL
