Post subject:  Windows XP Pro question/activation...

Hey, I have windows xp pro, bought legit copy. I've had it since SP2 was out. Now I've reformatted multiple times, due to trying to install some buggy applications and experienced viruses. ( was using Maya, Zbrush and stuff, and windows seemed quite selective sometimes.) Now when I try to activate it tells me that I've used up my activations because it thinks Im installing it on multiple PC's... ? and now when i boot up it says i need to activate in like 7 days now, and when i click activate now, it tells me its already activated......

either way how would i deal with this? phone them ? or what... I dont wanna fork out like $100 for another xp or even vista.

looks like your going to have to call microsoft and get a technician to give you a new product ID, or hack it.

yeah you only get so many in a period of time before you have to call them, and make sure to tell them you havnt changed any hardware at all, even the slightest thing they may try and say its a new machine, just tell them youre having issues with windows and viruses and needing to format.

If your hardware hasn't changed you probably won't even have to talk to a live rep. The last couple of times I called it was done automatically by the phone answering system.
