IDE Cable for a card reader? I've only ever installed one of these before and it was a pain getting it to work but it was done through the USB header on the motherboard like Denty mentioned. If you could get/find us a photo it would probably help. ![]() |

Once you get it connected it will show up in most version of windows as having added like 12 new HDD's. I personally can't stand those things. There should be 3 USB headers at the bottom of your motherboard (I assume ATX setup, in a tower). Each one should look like 2 rows of pins (5 on top, 4 on bottom) and have blue plastic at the base of each header. According to the manual I have for that board, they should be: 5V+/USB-/USB+/Ground/Ground 5V+/USB-/USB+/Ground/ The second ground on the top row is for USB connectors that have a ground wrap, so you don't need to use it if you're just connecting 4 individual pins. |

I dunno what kind of card readers you guys have but I have one of those 52-1 jobbies and mine only shows as 4 drives. |

Yeah, I found it quite strange..... I reload fairly often as well, and have had this 7-in-1 card reader for at least 3 years and only had it happen once. Must have been something wierd about the order I did things in or something, but it seems to me that the boot drive came out as higher than the USB drives (something like "H drive"). |

I have one of the 7n1/floppies, and just recently, I believe Friday, they conked out, like disappeared, this after, my daughter tried to read a sd card in my printer(which has a SD card slot), which it did read, but after that the 3 or four drives that showed up in XP, they all disappeared. I tried to reinstall, but no luck, any one know ho to reclaim them? |

I tried to reinstall, but no luck, any one know ho to reclaim them? Only thing I can think of is to force a new hardware detection like you would for a USB mouse/keyboard..... Try connecting it to a different motherboard usb header. (Powered off of course). |
