ok so i bought a new water cooling setup. so i take my computer apart. i take off the on board heat sink covering the nb sb and some other components. i install the cpu block, vga block ,north bridge block and south bridge block. i put custom made heat sinks on the left over pre covered parts.i get the system all filled up finally. took me about 8 hours to get it all installed. so im already to go. so i thought

i turn computer on and everything turns on but no display. none at all. so i let the computer sit over night was too pissed off after spending 8 hours installing the f*&king system. so i got up yesterday and pressed the power button and boom i got the asus ai bios screen. were in business woot. i go into bois to make sure all my settings are rite. and all of a sudden the screen goes white. and computer locks up. so i reboot again and it does the same thing as before.... lights are on but nobody is home.

sooooooo is it my vid card or mother board. im going to get a cheep pcie vid card form best buy whenever i can. so that way if it isnt the vid card i can return it.

this might be some helpful information i did a bios flash about 2 weeks ago. all went fine but when the dialog box came up to say finished i couldn't click ok or yes or piss off. i had to shut the program down the processes

does anyone here have a cheeeep pcie vid card i can use for testing. or to buy for really cheep. also any sudgestions?

I would guess if you actually managed to get into bios once, but then it white screened on you that it's an issue with the vid card.

Doesn't sound good..... :(

now its hit and miss. someitmes its lets me see the asus screen sometimes it dont. and i cant use my usb keyboard either. i had to plug in a ps2 keyboard. 9600gt paper weight now i guess lol i will let yas know when i get the other vid card to test. keep your fingers crossed for me :s

Did you do a c-mos reset?

Things like USB controllers disappearing sounds to me like a resource conflict.

Root around in bios, there should also be a setting somewhere to reset resources... on both boards I have it's a fixed setting rather than a one-timer like "optimized settings" so you'd have to go in after rebooting to turn it back to default which will keep the resource settings. (If you don't do that your OS will keep discovering "new" hardware every time something is reassigned a new irq. )

Wanna make a bet?

Unhook your whole cooling system. Go back to air and see what happens.

When you do this you'll get back to me on msn with your diagnosis.
